The president of the North Dakota Turkey Federation says about 1.2 million of the birds will be raised this year in the state.
Dave Muehler of Hankinson says that sounds like a lot until you compare it to the 46 million turkeys raised in Minnesota.
Muehler says things were tough for the industry this year, citing feed costs that hit an all-time high last summer.
The North Dakota Turkey Federation will donate a frozen turkey and a live one today to the governor.
And what does the federation president serve for Thanksgiving? Turkey, of course and ham.
