ND name contest for white buffalo ends

Fargo, ND - A contest to name the National Buffalo Museum's third white buffalo in Jamestown, North Dakota, drew 460 entries from around the United States and Canada.

Some of the more popular suggestions were White Thunder, White Lightning, Dakota Spirit, Dakota Lightning and Dakota Blizzard. The winner will be announced Oct. 15.

The male calf was born May 31. It joined a herd that already had an adult albino bison with one white offspring White Cloud and Dakota Miracle.
