Fargo, ND - The Agriculture Department says turkey production in North Dakota is at its lowest level since 2005.
A preliminary estimate from the agency shows 1.2 million turkeys raised in North Dakota this year, a 29 percent increase from last year.
The record high for turkey production in North Dakota came in 1997, when 2.6 million of the birds were raised.
The agency says the national estimate of 271 million turkeys raised this year is down slightly from a year ago.
